AAS Display Garden at Green Legacy

Green Legacy is excited to share that our trial garden will serve as an All-America Selections (AAS) Display Garden and will participate in the AAS Landscape Design Challenge in partnership with EMI.

This expands the role of our trial garden. It will continue to function as a testing space for landscape performance, while also showcasing AAS proven plant varieties.

All-America Selections is an independent, non-profit plant trialing organization founded in 1932. AAS is the oldest independent plant trialing organization in North America and focuses on identifying new plant varieties that perform well in real garden conditions.

Each year, new, never-before-sold varieties are tested at AAS trial grounds across the continent by independent horticulture professionals who volunteer their time and expertise as AAS judges. The trials are conducted anonymously to ensure unbiased results and plants are evaluated on factors like vigor, uniformity, and overall garden performance.

Only the top performers are named AAS Winners. These winning varieties are then showcased in AAS Display Gardens across the country, giving gardeners the opportunity to see how they perform before choosing them for their own spaces.

In addition to being a display garden, Green Legacy will participate in the AAS Landscape Design Challenge. This involves creating a designed garden space that highlights AAS Winners in a clear and intentional way. The display must follow a theme, with this year’s theme being “The Goodness of Gardening.”

We’re excited to collaborate with our landscape partner, EMI, on this project. They will bring additional expertise to the design and execution of the display garden.
