Beekenkamp’s 75 Years of Success

2026 marks an exciting milestone for Beekenkamp as we celebrate our 75th anniversary as a family owned company!

With humble beginnings as a small vegetable grower to a globally recognized ornamental breeder and young plant producer, Beekenkamp now produces more than 2 billion young plants annually and delivers over 350 million unrooted cuttings each year.

So much has changed over the last seven and a half decades, but our commitment to innovation, quality, and long-lasting partnerships remains rooted in the same family values that started it all.

We are especially proud to work with growers like Green Legacy, another family-owned operation, who will continue to shape their growing legacy for years to come.

Our assortment continues to expand with world class genetics across crops like Dahlia, Poinsettia, Petunia, and more, but Begonias remain at the heart of our legacy.

There is something different about shade gardening. In the shade, foliage becomes just as important as blooms, creating unique combinations of color, texture, and depth. In the heat of the spring and summer, we often find refuge in the shade. Shade gardens invite people to cool down, look closer, and appreciate the details. Shade gardens are a testament that the most impactful gardens don’t always need to be in the spotlight but instead are sometimes found in the corners we would least expect them.

That is why this year at the Green Legacy Trial Gardens, we focused entirely on shade.

Beekenkamp is best known for our premium Begonia elatior genetics, especially the BK Collection and Dreams Garden series in addition to our trailing Beauvilia and Waterfalls Begonia boliviensis series.

These varieties continue to set the standard for flower power, uniformity, and premium performance in shade gardens and patio containers and hanging baskets.

A rising star in our Begonia assortment is the Spacestars Rex Begonia series. Produced from full leaf unrooted cuttings and backed by extensive production R&D, Spacestars prove themselves in propagation through finish and showcase excellent landscape and container performance.

Their bold foliage, unique textures, and exceptional vigor bring a different dimension to shade combinations and gardening. Spacestars Maia Impr. creates a galactic border around some of our best-selling BK genetics in this year’s trial garden.
