Sakata Ornamentals

The 2026 trial season has begun! We here at Sakata are excited to see the hard work, great ideas and great genetics come together for evaluation at the 2nd year of the Green Legacy trials.

This season, Sakata Ornamentals beds will feature seed, vegetative and cut flower varieties, along with mixes/combos from our Playlist® series.

You’ll see many 2025-2026 releases as well as new introductions for the 2026-2027 retail season in beds #23, 52, 53 and Showcase Bed #4.

Do not miss our newest addition to the SunPatiens series, SunPatiens Petite. Featuring a more compact habit (20% smaller than SunPatiens Compact varieties) with dense flowering, SunPatiens Petite is the perfect SunPatiens for 8-12” containers. Although not recommended for in ground planting, SunPatiens Petite is a great alternative to New Guinea Impatiens for hanging baskets and mixed combos.

Amongst some old favorites in the SunPatiens series, you’ll see some new colors: Compact Scarlet Orange and Compact Bright Purple along with recent improvements in Compact Royal Magenta and Compact Purple Candy (beds#53, 23,4).

The original intergeneric petchoa (petunia x calibrachoa), SuperCal is known for its all-weather, 3 season performance, heat tolerance and disease resistance. Currently, the series features over 2 dozen colors between SuperCal (semi-trailing with abundant mid-sized flowers) and SuperCal Premium (mounding with large flowers).

The Green Legacy trial will showcase new Premium Pink Star and Premium Purple Ice along with an outstanding improvement in Sunset Orange. Other customer favorites like Blue-Eyed Rose, Premium Coral Star and Premium Rose Star will shine in beds #52, 23 and 4.

Bringing everything together is our Playlist® series of combinations.
The Playlist series from Sakata features Sakata’s premium genetics thoughtfully selected to play well in combination planters/baskets and finish in sync for efficient production. Select from pre-built kits and recipes named after hit songs or create your own mixes that drive seasonal sales.

Sakata’s Vincent’s Sunflower has become a favorite of cut flower growers. Being day length neutral, it offers greater flexibility in programing for year-round production. Pollen-free blooms feature overlapping petals that create a semi-double appearance on strong stems.
Vincent’s® Choice and Vincents® Fresh are now available with downy mildew resistance.
